Fashion of the 1940's and 50's.... for the 40 - 50's...
I was watching some old films the other day (had a quilt day on the sofa!) which I think were from the 1940's and 1950's and I was just drooling over the fashions. That's what I need I thought.
When you are heading towards 'that age' you suddenly no longer know what to wear even though I'm still a perfect size 12 (british). The fashions I saw in the films would be ideal - the suits were feminine without being stark, the twin sets and jumpers looked soft and flattering without looking like something grannie would wear (ok, I'm a young gran but I don't want to look like my gran!) the trousers were figure hugging without being manly and oooooooo the negligees and wraps were to die for!
I know fashion companies aim at the youngsters (oooooo I'm not longer considered a youngster - thats a blow of a realisation) but I really do wish that they would consider us not so young folk - there are a fair amount of us in the world !
The low slung hipster trousers and jeans look silly on us not so young ones and low tops and short hem lines - well not's let go there eh.
I'm not one to normally frequent forums but just this once I thought I'd put my two-pennorth in and see if anyone takes any notice. |
