My name is Kate. I am curently doing a marketing project which taking on the role of a Fashion, Marketing and Design consultant, which i ahve to conduct research into possible gaps or areas for development in either major or independent designers, or a boutique. i have decided to base the project on Vivienne Westwood. The choice of designer was chosen as many people want to purchase at piece of Vivienne Westwood’s unique and individually styled items. Vivienne Westwood brings characteristics and creativity to her work. Although her design work is aimed at a wide span market range of people, in reality, her designs are unaffordable to the younger student market.
A proposition has been thought up where a new label is created under name which would sell her uniqueness design work for Spring/Summer 2010. In keeping with her Spring/Summer 2010 collection, i want to adapt her style, possibly tone it down, and aim it at the younger generation, who can feel they can afford it. Price range for this would be on the same guideline as what high street stores retail items for. Each item of clothing will be different from each other items, so no two dresses would be exactly the same. I believe that recycling is the key to helping environment, reduce and re-use, and be kind to the environment. It would be an initial idea that recycled fabrics, whether it is old garments, or end of the line fabrics and so forth would be used for the production of the products.
In help with marketing this proposed idea, a few questions need answering, and we would benefit gratefully with your help. Is Westwood exploiting too much in her design work? Should there be some sort of a limitation to her designs? Is there a potential gap in the market for the proposed ideas, or would it ruin what she already has? Would the idea work against the competitivness of the high street stores, or other high end designers who have launches cheaper ranges? I would very much appreciate any responses and any feed back, as it would help me gratefully to understand the designer and the way she works.
